More About Michaela!
I'm a learner and teacher to my core. Fascinated by how my own brain worked in high school, I pursued neuroscience in college, which took me to the field of education.
I taught for about 10 years before I became a mom and moved into ed-tech private sector work.
I majored in Neuroscience and Physiology at UCSD, along with a minor in Secondary Science Education (2012). I did my Masters in Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (2013). While at Harvard, I was a resident tutor in Lowell House for two years after I graduated.
I taught as a high school science teacher in Boston and the SF Bay Area until 2022. I've work in high-need public schools, and most recently worked at The Nueva School in San Mateo. While at Nueva, I was a biology and chemistry teacher, as well as 10th-Grade Dean.
Now I work in the Ed-Tech industry, currently involved in private college counseling.
I love project-based learning, and am always coming up with a new learning adventure with the kiddos.
